Leicestershire Police have released surveillance footage showing 20-year-old Aryan Sharma jogging through Loughborough town center on the night he vanished, as the search for the missing university student enters its second week.

The Loughborough University robotics student was last spotted at 12:30am on November 23, walking away from the town center near Meadow Lane after leaving his accommodation around 9:30pm. The newly released video captures him moving through the town earlier that evening.

His family has made an emotional appeal for his safe return. “We are devastated as a family. We just want to find him safe,” said his cousin Jagi Sawhney, speaking on behalf of relatives. “He’s loved by everyone in this family, and we just want him home safely.”

Detective Inspector Jonathan Dickens emphasized the urgency of the investigation, stating authorities are working to trace Aryan’s movements from when he left his Woodgate area accommodation until his last sighting on Meadow Lane. Police are particularly interested in any sightings of a man matching his description wearing a distinctive long black trench coat during the early morning hours.

The search has mobilized extensive resources including trained search officers, drones, police dogs, divers, the National Police Air Service, and Leicestershire Search and Rescue volunteers. Investigators have reviewed hours of CCTV footage and phone data while gathering witness information.

Family members expressed deep concern given the cold weather since his disappearance and the fact that no one has been able to contact him. “If Aryan sees this, we want him to know how loved he is,” Sawhney added, describing him as a cherished older brother, cousin, grandson, son, and uncle.

Aryan is described as Asian, 5ft 5ins tall with a slim build and collar-length black hair. He was wearing a black trench coat, shorts, and black trainers with white trim when last seen.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen him along Meadow Lane, Stanford Lane, or surrounding areas between 12:15am and 2am on November 23, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage from that time, to contact Leicestershire Police immediately at 101, quoting incident 208 of November 23.
