Family Remembers ‘Beloved’ Woman After Tragic Death in Cardiff.

The loved ones of a 32-year-old woman discovered deceased on a Cardiff street have honored her memory with touching words about her kindness and warmth.

Niwunhellage Dona Nirodha Kalapni Niwunhella, who went by Nirodha, lost her life after sustaining severe injuries on a roadway in the Riverside area on Thursday morning.

Emergency medical personnel rushed to South Morgan Place at 7:37 AM, but Nirodha could not be saved despite their efforts and was declared dead at the location.

Police took a 37-year-old man into custody shortly afterward on Seawall Road in Splott. The suspect was acquainted with the victim and remains detained as investigations continue.

In a heartfelt statement released today, Nirodha’s family shared their memories of her:

“Nirodha was a beloved daughter, treasured family member, and loyal friend to many. We will always carry her memory with peace, love, and deep appreciation for the time we shared.

“Her gentle spirit and caring nature left lasting impressions on countless people, and her legacy will continue to guide and inspire us all.

“While we mourn that her journey was cut short, the love and joy she brought into our lives will never fade. May she rest peacefully.”

Investigators are seeking assistance from the public, particularly anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured relevant footage on security cameras or dashboard recorders.

Police are especially interested in speaking with individuals who observed a grey Ford Fiesta in the vicinity of South Morgan Place or Seawall Road, including the surrounding areas of Wellington Street, Clare Road, Penarth Road, and East Tyndall Street, during the timeframe of 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Davies, who is leading the investigation, expressed his sympathy: “Our deepest sympathies go out to Nirodha’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved her during this devastating time.

“Specially trained officers are providing support to her family, and we respectfully ask that their need for privacy during this difficult period be honored.

“I encourage anyone who possesses information relevant to this case and has not yet contacted authorities to please reach out and assist with our ongoing investigation.”
