Four days after ringing in her birthday during an intimate celebration in Goa, Malaika Arora took to Instagram to share cherished moments from the occasion—but the post has reignited a familiar debate among social media users.
The actress, who celebrated what she says was her 50th birthday, posted a series of photographs from the gathering, accompanied by a touching message: “My heart is full. Thank you all for the love, the wishes, and for making my 50th truly special. A special thank you to the wonderful people who helped me plan and create such a beautiful celebration.”
While the post garnered thousands of reactions and an outpouring of affection from fans, it also sparked renewed speculation about her actual age. Some commenters expressed confusion, with one writing, “50?? I thought she was 52. Born in ’73,” and another remarking, “You’re gorgeous, but how come you’re 50? You were born in 1973, right? Just own it — you look amazing at 52 or even 54!” A third user joked, “Next year she’ll be 48… two years ago also 50th, this year also 50th.”

Despite the persistent online chatter, Malaika has chosen not to address the latest wave of comments directly. However, she has previously opened up about the emotional toll of age-related trolling. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, she admitted that being called derogatory terms like “buddhi” (old woman) can be deeply hurtful.
“For me, ‘buddhiya’ — how can you even say something like that to somebody? Sometimes it triggers me because it’s extremely insensitive,” she shared. “People only see the brave persona. They think ‘she looks happy,’ but they don’t realize there are so many things that can actually trigger or upset you.”
For now, Malaika appears focused on celebrating the joy and gratitude surrounding her special day, regardless of the noise.
