Maddock Films Shuts Down Aneet Padda Casting Buzz: “Wait for Official Word”

Production house calls reports linking Saiyaara actress to Shakti Shalini “purely speculative”

Dinesh Vijan’s supernatural comedy franchise has captured audiences since Stree’s breakout success in 2018. Following the expansion with Bhediya and Munjya, anticipation continues building around what’s next for the beloved horror-comedy universe.

Recent industry chatter suggested that Saiyaara star Aneet Padda was set to headline Shakti Shalini, the franchise’s upcoming installment. Pinkvilla reported that sources indicated Padda had completed both look tests and promotional photography for the project.

“Aneet Padda has been in discussions for Shakti Shalini for the last two months, as Dinesh Vijan was on the lookout to infuse his universe with new energies. He loved Aneet’s work in Saiyaara, and has decided to mount the next chapter of the horror comedy universe on her,” an insider told the publication.

The report further claimed production would begin by late 2025, with Munjya director Aditya Sarpotdar reportedly leading the race to helm the project. Tabbar’s Ajitpal Singh was also mentioned as a potential candidate.

However, Maddock Films quickly moved to set the record straight. The production company released an official statement across their social media platforms, categorically denying the casting speculation.

“While we truly value the excitement around our horror-comedy universe, we want to make it absolutely clear that any reports regarding the casting of the upcoming chapters, including Shakti Shalini and Maha Munjya, are purely speculative,” the statement read. “We urge the media to avoid misinformation and to wait for official announcements from us.”

The clarification confirms that casting for Shakti Shalini remains undecided. Franchise enthusiasts will need to exercise patience until Maddock Films makes official announcements regarding both the lead actor and director for this highly awaited addition to their supernatural comedy collection.
