Bobby Deol is experiencing a remarkable career resurgence in recent years. The younger son of veteran actor Dharmendra launched his acting journey three decades ago, but his path wasn’t always smooth. During a difficult period marked by professional setbacks, the actor found himself relying on alcohol as a coping mechanism. He has been candid about this struggle, describing alcohol dependency as potentially more gripping than other substances.
His career revival began with the rise of streaming platforms. Bobby gained renewed recognition through projects like Class of ’83 and Aashram in 2020, followed by his memorable performance alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Animal (2023). Most recently, he impressed audiences in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series. But perhaps his most significant victory has been personal—conquering his addiction to alcohol.

In a conversation with Bombay Times, Bobby confirmed that he has indeed stopped drinking, and it has made a profound difference in his life. “Everyone is genetically different, and no one realizes how any kind of intoxication can affect you. Some people have genes where you get addicted to things,” he explained. “I just decided that God has given me a second chance, and I really, really want to do my best. You don’t get these kinds of chances in life.”
The actor emphasized that the motivation for change must be internal. “The voice has to come from within,” he said. “I think I’m a better person after I stopped drinking, and I think my relationship has become a hundred times better with everyone I know.”
Bobby’s openness about his struggles and recovery will likely resonate with many who face similar challenges. Looking ahead professionally, following his role as a superstar in his recent series, Bobby is preparing for Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha, the next installment in the YRF Spy Universe. He’s also set to appear in the Tamil political action thriller Jana Nayagan with Thalapathy Vijay.
