Director Amar Kaushik has dismissed speculation surrounding Vicky Kaushal’s preparation methods for the upcoming mythological film Mahavatar, in which the actor will portray Lord Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Director Sets the Record Straight
Recent reports suggested that Kaushal had adopted a strict lifestyle, eliminating alcohol and non-vegetarian food from his diet to authentically embody the revered sage. However, in a conversation with Filmygyan, Kaushik expressed frustration with such unverified claims.
“Again, I say the same thing—where do these stories come from? Please, brothers, stop all this. Only believe in something when we say it,” the director stated, urging audiences to rely solely on official information from the filmmakers.
Some speculation had indicated that Kaushal made these dietary changes following advice from his father, action director Sham Kaushal, to better connect with Lord Parashurama’s ascetic lifestyle. These claims, however, remain unsubstantiated.

Fan Response
Following Kaushik’s clarification, fans took to social media agreeing the rumors seemed implausible. One supporter noted, “That rumor was always questionable. Vicky has openly discussed how challenging it is for him to gain weight and bulk up. That’s why he could shed weight so quickly for Love and War after Chhaava. He wouldn’t restrict his diet when building muscle mass is already difficult for him.”
Personal Milestone
On a personal note, Kaushal and his wife, actress Katrina Kaif, recently celebrated the arrival of their first child, a baby boy. The couple announced the news through a joint statement on Instagram this past Saturday. They have been married since 2021.
Mahavatar is being touted as one of the most ambitious mythological productions in Hindi cinema, and fans eagerly await official updates about the project.
