The Monday Fast Tradition

Speaking at the launch of “Your Body Already Knows,” Akshay revealed one of his most distinctive practices: observing a complete fast every Monday. This weekly ritual begins after his Sunday dinner and continues until Tuesday morning, giving his digestive system a full 24-hour break.

“Sunday is the last meal, and then after that, Monday is a full day fast till Tuesday morning,” he explained. This practice, he believes, keeps him feeling light and energetic throughout the week.

Early Dinners for Better Health

Another cornerstone of Akshay’s routine is finishing dinner by 6:30 PM. His reasoning is rooted in giving the digestive system adequate rest time. He draws a parallel between how our limbs rest during sleep and how the stomach deserves the same consideration.

“When we sleep, our eyes, legs, hands, and essentially every part of our body are in a state of rest. However, if we eat a late dinner, we do not allow our stomach sufficient time to rest properly,” he shared.

Akshay emphasizes that by morning, the stomach should be ready to relax, but instead, breakfast immediately puts it back to work. He stressed the importance of stomach health, noting that “all the diseases that exist come from there.”

Movement Over Machines

Unlike many fitness enthusiasts who rely on traditional gym equipment, Akshay takes a different approach. He avoids conventional weight training, instead favoring activities that mimic natural human movement patterns.

His preferred exercises include rock climbing, outdoor sports, and bodyweight movements. With characteristic humor, he described his workout space as a gym “for monkeys,” designed around climbing and hanging exercises rather than standard weight machines.

Throughout his fitness journey, Akshay has remained committed to performing his own stunts and maintaining consistency in his health practices. He warns against crash diets and processed foods, advocating instead for sustainable, natural approaches to wellness.
