KP Government Expands Double Shift Programme to Include 62 More Schools

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has launched Phase 6 of its Double Shift School Programme, adding 62 schools across the province to provide education for out-of-school children.

The new phase includes schools from multiple districts: Haripur (16), Swabi (11), Lakki Marwat and Abbottabad (4 each), Lower Dir (3), Nowshera (4), and one each in Khyber and Mardan. Both boys’ and girls’ schools are part of the initiative to ensure equal educational opportunities.

The programme specifically targets working children, allowing them to attend afternoon sessions. Education authorities have been directed to intensify enrollment campaigns to maximize reach.

The double shift system now operates in over 1,000 schools across various districts. This expansion represents a significant milestone in the provincial government’s efforts to integrate out-of-school children into formal education and improve literacy rates throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
