ISPR Chief Refutes Claims About Army Chief’s Interview.

No Official Interview Given, Brussels Event Misrepresented

Pakistan’s military spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has categorically denied that Army Chief General Asim Munir granted any interview to journalist Sohail Warraich, addressing concerns about alleged statements regarding political matters.

Speaking to members of the press, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General clarified that no formal interview was conducted between the Army Chief and any journalist. He explained that Warraich’s column appears to have mischaracterized a public event that took place in Brussels.

“The incident referenced was simply a public gathering in Brussels where numerous attendees took photographs,” Lieutenant General Chaudhry stated. “There was absolutely no discussion about PTI or any apology during this event.”

Accusations of Sensationalism

The ISPR chief expressed disappointment with what he characterized as an attempt to gain “personal publicity” through misleading reporting. He specifically criticized the journalist’s approach as inappropriate and irresponsible, particularly given their senior status in the media industry.

“It’s regrettable when even experienced journalists engage in such unprofessional conduct,” he remarked, emphasizing that those who violate legal boundaries will face appropriate consequences.

Pakistan’s Strategic Position and Youth Empowerment

During his interaction with journalists, Lieutenant General Chaudhry highlighted Pakistan’s significance as a regional power, suggesting that the country’s strategic importance makes it a frequent target of various attacks and propaganda campaigns.

He directed particular attention to Pakistan’s youth, encouraging them to recognize the nation’s ideological foundations and inherent strengths. “The moment our young people truly understand their potential, no extremist force or proxy organization will be able to intimidate them,” he declared.

Historical References and National Defense

Drawing from Islamic history, the ISPR Director General referenced the conquest of Makkah and quoted Prophet Muhammad’s words: “Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to perish.” He suggested that Pakistan’s current challenges mirror the struggles faced during that historic period.

Addressing defense capabilities, Lieutenant General Chaudhry pointed out Pakistan’s achievement of nuclear status despite a relatively modest defense budget of Rs80 billion. He contrasted this with other regional powers, noting that some nations with larger defense expenditures have not achieved similar capabilities.

Counter-Narrative to Negative Propaganda

The military spokesperson expressed concern about what he described as systematic efforts to undermine Pakistani youth’s confidence in their nation. He argued that while Pakistan faces criticism, neighboring countries receive positive recognition in international media.

“There’s been a deliberate campaign to convince our children that Pakistan has failed, while simultaneously promoting other nations as success stories,” he explained. “This narrative is designed to create despair among our future generations.”

Lieutenant General Chaudhry concluded by reaffirming the military’s commitment to responsible governance and Pakistan’s potential to influence regional dynamics positively.
