ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Senate of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution condemning a recent honour killing in Balochistan, calling for immediate and strict legal action against those responsible.
The resolution, moved by Senator Sherry Rehman, strongly denounced the killing carried out under the pretext of honour and urged the government to ensure the perpetrators face the full force of the law. She specifically demanded that members of the tribal jirga, which reportedly approved the act, be held accountable and prosecuted.
Highlighting that such crimes are not confined to Balochistan alone, Senator Rehman stressed the need for a nationwide response to honour-based violence. She reminded the house that it is the constitutional responsibility of the state to protect all citizens equally under the law.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the incident in strong terms, expressing solidarity with the victim’s family and urging justice.
