Imran Khan Urges PTI to Unite Ahead of August 5 Protest.

Incarcerated PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has voiced concern over the lack of momentum for the party’s planned August 5 protest, urging party members to immediately set aside internal differences.

Currently imprisoned at Adiala Jail in connection with a £190 million corruption case and facing multiple other charges, Khan has called for nationwide protests to mark two years since his arrest. However, internal divisions have surfaced, particularly after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur introduced a separate 90-day plan, prompting criticism from PTI Punjab organiser Aliya Hamza Malik.

In a statement posted on his official X account, Khan warned against infighting: “There is no meaningful momentum behind this initiative. Every member must focus solely on August 5. Anyone found engaging in factionalism will be expelled.”

Khan stressed the importance of unity, citing PTI’s electoral performance despite losing its symbol. He called on members to honor the public’s mandate and avoid distractions.

“The people stood by us. It would be disgraceful if leaders waste time on internal conflicts,” he said, framing the protest as part of a broader struggle for democratic reform and judicial independence.

He also criticized the government for “crippling the judiciary” through the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

As the protest date nears, Khan’s message is unequivocal: the movement’s success hinges on discipline, unity, and a shared commitment to the party’s mission.
