Shah Says PoK ‘Given Away’; Modi Defends Operation Sindoor, Trump Hints Tariffs.

Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Rajya Sabha during the Operation Sindoor debate that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was “given away” by previous governments and asserted that India must reclaim it. He also predicted the BJP would remain in power for the next 30 years. On trade, US President Donald Trump said India could face tariffs of 20% to 25%, though a final decision has not been made, Bloomberg reported. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in July 2025, stated that no global leader, including the US president, had asked India to halt Operation Sindoor, calling it a sovereign, strategic military action.
