Man Charged with Murder Following Fatal West London Stabbing.

A 22-year-old man has been brought before Westminster Magistrates’ Court facing murder charges after a deadly knife attack in Uxbridge that claimed one life and left two others injured.

Safi Dawood, a resident of Midhurst Gardens, stands accused of murdering Wayne Broadhurst and attempting to murder both Shahzad Farrukh, 45, and a teenage boy, aged 14. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Monday evening in the west London neighborhood.

Prosecutors revealed that Dawood also faces charges for carrying an offensive weapon. Following Thursday’s hearing, he was denied bail and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey within two days.

The Attack

Emergency services responded to the scene in Midhurst Gardens at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday after receiving reports of multiple stabbings.

Mr. Broadhurst, who was walking his dog at the time, sustained fatal injuries including multiple stab wounds to his neck, chest, and torso. Despite emergency treatment, he died at the scene.

The other two victims received medical attention for their injuries. The 14-year-old sustained wounds to his hand and has since been released from hospital. Mr. Farrukh, however, remains hospitalized with injuries described by prosecutor Theo Woodhead as life-changing.

Background

According to the Home Office, Dawood entered Britain concealed in a lorry in 2020 and subsequently applied for asylum, which was approved in 2022.

Community Mourns

Wayne Broadhurst worked as a refuse collector for Greener Ealing Ltd, a council-owned company, though he was off duty when the attack occurred.

Katarina Pohancenikova, the firm’s managing director, paid tribute to her colleague: “This is a devastating loss. Wayne was a well-respected and dedicated member of our team who made a real contribution to the work we do and to the residents we serve.”

She added that the company’s thoughts were with Mr. Broadhurst’s family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult period.
