After several speculations, it has now been officially announced that Cocktail 2 will be beginning its filming this August, featuring a new leading trio. Thirteen years after the original film’s release, director Homi Adajania will once again make the romantic drama, with Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna playing the leading roles.
Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and written by Luv Ranjan, the sequel is currently being kept under wraps when it comes to plot details. The production team is targeting a theatrical release during the second half of 2026. Adding to the excitement, celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, who is Homi’s wife, shared a sneak peek of the Cocktail 2 script on her Instagram story on Friday. Simultaneously, Kriti Sanon was observed exiting the Maddock Films office in Mumbai, suggesting that preparations are progressing rapidly.
This film will be Kriti and Shahid’s second collaboration, following their successful pairing in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which was released in 2024. The addition of Rashmika is expected to introduce a fresh dynamic, and fans are eager to observe the chemistry among the three actors in this modern portrayal of urban relationships.
The original film Cocktail from 2012 presented a modern-day love triangle, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. The movie received appreciation for its innovative exploration of friendship and romance, its music, and Deepika Padukone’s exceptional performance, which significantly elevated her status within Bollywood’s leading actors.
Meanwhile, the new cast members are also occupied with completing their other projects. Kriti Sanon recently concluded the filming of Tere Ishk Mein with Dhanush, which is scheduled to be released in theatres on November 28. Also, there are rumours suggesting she has accepted a role in Don 3, alongside Ranveer Singh. Shahid Kapoor is currently occupied in filming Arjun Ustara, a period drama which also features Triptii Dimri and Randeep Hooda.Rashmika Mandanna, who was last seen in Kuberaa, has several upcoming projects, including Mysaa, The Girlfriend, Thama, and Animal Park.
