Islamabad Declares Public Holiday for Independence Day Celebrations.

Islamabad has declared a public holiday for Wednesday, August 13, 2025, to celebrate the upcoming 78th Independence Day. The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon and will apply to the entire Islamabad Capital Territory.

The holiday excludes essential services, including the MCI, CDA, ICT Administration, police, IESCO, SNGPL, and hospitals, which will all remain operational.

The nation is gearing up for the festivities, which this year carry extra significance following Pakistan’s recent victory in the Marka-e-Haq armed conflict. Streets and buildings are adorned with flags and lights, and markets are filled with stalls selling green-and-white themed merchandise.

In preparation for the celebrations, the city’s administration, led by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has also banned the sale and use of plastic horns. Roads, landmarks, and public spaces have been decorated with flags and cultural exhibits to foster a spirit of national pride throughout the capital.
