MANCHESTER, England — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Thursday that batsman Haider Ali is under criminal investigation in England following an incident during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour. Greater Manchester Police confirmed a 24-year-old man was arrested on Monday after a rape allegation was reported.
The alleged incident occurred on July 23, 2025, at a premises in Manchester, according to police. The suspect has been released on bail pending further inquiries. In line with standard UK procedure, the police did not name the individual.

The PCB has suspended Ali, 24, effective immediately, pending the investigation’s outcome. The Shaheens, Pakistan’s second-tier international team, were on a 15-day tour starting July 22. Ali, who debuted internationally in 2020, has played two one-day internationals and 35 T20s for Pakistan.
The PCB stated it respects the UK’s legal processes and is providing Ali with appropriate legal support. It added that further action under its Code of Conduct may follow once the investigation concludes and all facts are established.
