Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, is accused of breaking PC Lydia Ward’s nose during a violent airport clash, claiming he didn’t realise she was a woman. Prosecutor Paul Greaney KC called this “a bare-faced lie,” urging jurors to trust the evidence.
Amaaz is charged with assaulting three officers and a man at Manchester Airport, allegedly sparked by a dispute over insults to his mother. Greaney said the attack was driven by “anger and revenge,” not self-defence, calling Amaaz’s version a “fabrication.”
The prosecution accepted that one officer kicked Amaaz during the arrest but said it was irrelevant to the core question of guilt. Amaaz’s brother, Muhammad Amaad, is also accused of assaulting PC Marsden.
The judge reminded jurors to disregard emotional social media commentary and focus solely on evidence.
Both brothers deny all charges.
The trial continues.
