India’s mobile phone exports surged 127 times in a decade, reaching ₹2 lakh crore in 2024-25, up from ₹1,500 crore in 2014-15, Parliament was informed. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada credited the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, which attracted ₹12,390 crore investment, generated ₹8.44 lakh crore production, ₹4.65 lakh crore exports, and created 1.3 lakh jobs. Mobile imports, once 75% of India’s demand, fell to 0.02%. PLI 2.0 for IT hardware generated ₹717 crore investment, ₹12,195 crore production, and 5,056 jobs, while electronics manufacturing FDI reached $4 billion over the last five years.
