Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in London on Wednesday evening for a two-day official visit to the United Kingdom from July 23 to 24. He was received by UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific Catherine West, Indian High Commissioner Vikram Dorsaiswami, and British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron.
Welcomed by community leaders, students, and parliamentarians, Modi expressed excitement over strengthening India-UK ties. During the visit, he will meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers and King Charles III.
The visit’s highlight will be discussions on finalising a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and boosting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, covering trade, investment, innovation, defence, and education. Both nations aim to reach USD 120 billion in trade by 2030.
The UK is India’s sixth-largest investor, with USD 36 billion invested so far and 1,000 Indian companies employing nearly 100,000 people in Britain. This is Modi’s fourth UK visit since taking office.
